Dilmah donates to Hospice at Smales Farm

Dilmah Tea founder Merrill J Fernando recently presented the proceeds of the biennial Dilmah on-pack promotion to Hospice NZ at an event hosted by Smales Farm at the B:Hive. Guests enjoyed a cup of tea (naturally) before Merrill Fernando spoke of his philosophy of sharing his wealth with the community, and handed over a ceremonial cheque for $20,000. Hospice NZ Chief Executive Mary Schumacher and Harbour Hospice Chief Executive Jan Nichols thanked Dilmah, not just for the money but also Dilmah's ongoing (more than 21 years) donation of tea for hospices New Zealand-wide. A major rebuilding programme and associated fundraising drive for Shore-based Harbour Hospice was also announced on the day.
