The team delivering the popular annual Repco Takapuna Rocks event is ready to bring you another amazing classic car, bike and hot rod show and family fun day. They’ve spent lockdown organising the wonderful show and believe it will be just the fun that everyone is looking for!
If you love motor vehicles, fun and entertainment, our advice is don’t miss Repco Takapuna Rocks 2021 on (Labour Weekend) Saturday 23rd October by the beach in The Strand, Takapuna. This event is free to the public and, set against the backdrop of Takapuna Beach and Rangitoto, offers a great day out for all.
Repco Takapuna Rocks is in its third year in 2021. It is a community fundraising event supporting Shore Junction, the new youth innovation hub for talented young people on the Shore, and Make-A-Wish NZ which gives amazing wishes to young Kiwi kids with a life-threatening illness. So far, from the first two years of the event the organisers have donated over $6000 to these charities and hope that this year will be even bigger and better than the last two with Takapuna Rotary assisting with gold ooin collections on the day.
After two successful events in the past two years, with thousands of people visiting the shows and enjoying the atmosphere and display of classic vehicles, the organisers are planning a big show this year. The 2021 event will feature even more bikes with the support of NZ Custom Choppers, the new introduction of Tot Rods to the show and a relaxed vibe and atmosphere where you can see some amazing restored vehicles, reminiscent of a bygone era.
They have a great line-up of sponsors with Repco supporting as the naming rights sponsor for a third year in a row, and also supported by some wonderful brands who have got behind the event and will be there on the day. Repco Takapuna Rocks 2021 will have some of the country’s best pre-’72 classic vehicles, live music, vintage markets and a Pin-up competition with Shane Cortese as MC and fabulous prizes from the Pin-up sponsor Karen Murrell Lipsticks. Live music with Chet O’Connell and the Rock 'n' Roll Riot starts at 10am, followed by the Nitro Rockers from 12.30pm. There will be dancing in the streets, local restaurants, bars and food trucks serving food all day, face painting for the kids, quality vintage market stalls selling the best in vintage wares, and of course the show is right beside the ever popular Takapuna Beach Playground.
The Pin-ups will be judged on the main stage from 3pm when Miss Takapuna Rocks 2021 will be named. Sponsors will have great giveaways during the day and there will be judging of the vehicles announced at 4pm. Awards include a Sponsors' Choice Award, Organisers' Choice, Best Bike and a Wildcard Winner.
