Benefitz supports new youth innovation hub with digital technology

The Benefitz team has made a significant contribution to the new Shore Junction facility in Takapuna with the supply of large digital screens. The new facility, that was several years in the planning and making, officially opened earlier this year. It is a free-to-access youth innovation hub for youth aged from 13 and 25.

Facilities at Shore Junction include a fully fitted out recording studio and adjoining music room for young musicians to experiment in and inspire them with different instruments, a creative dance studio and an art space.

Shore Junction focuses on on accelerating STEM knowledge and skills, creating a space for young people to build, code, plan, and develop these skills. Connecting with these areas are collaborative break-out spaces with bean bags, digital whiteboards and large screens, which will accommodate youth-led events.

For the digital screens and technology Benefitz collaborated on this space with supply partner Computaleta to help bring Shore Junction to life through technology. This includes a four-screen Samsung video wall, Samsung Flip2 digital whiteboards, and another exterior facing Samsung video wall for Shore Junction to advertise and promote their events and activities through digital signage.

Annaliese Hewitt, Centre Director for Shore Junction, says the technology has re-imagined the space to be one of true collaboration.

"It has been amazing having the Samsung Flip at Shore Junction for our young people to use. They love the functionality of working on group assignments and also brainstorming ideas for our Youth Engagement Group projects. It has been especially valuable for us to use in our auditorium space when we rent it out to other community organisations to use.”

“The supply team of Benefitz and Computaleta have been so patient in helping to determine the right products to fit our needs – from hardware through to the content management software – and then teaching us how to use the new technology. Being able to create personalised content on the display screens has meant that we can promote our programmes for the young people at Shore Junction, as well as sharing our partners' events.”

“We have been supporters of this Shore Junction concept right from the outset,” adds Benefitz Managing Director Aidan Bennett. “It was an ambitious project that involved turning the old RSA facility into a futuristic youth innovation hub. To see it open is really heartwarming. It is fantastic. This technology we have provided fits in really well as does the signage that we have helped with.”

Shore Junction is located in the former North Shore RSA building on Mary Poynton Cresent in Takapuna.
