Love Your Coast

With Channel Magazine, Benefitz and Sustainable Coastlines

The team at Channel Magazine (and Benefitz), Sustainable Coastlines and our supporters are inviting schools, businesses, families and volunteers who love the beaches of the North Shore to take part in the biggest coastal clean-up ever organised in the area: the ‘Love your Coast’ North Shore Coastal Clean-up Event.

Happening on Friday the 15th and Saturday the 16th of April, the event will see school students and local businesses team-up to hit the beaches, while the Saturday event will be open to the entire community to get involved.

The multiple award-winning charity Sustainable Coastlines is spearheading the project, with the support of several local businesses including Benefitz - the one stop print, design and advertising solution team who have supported coastal clean-ups around the country for the past two years and the staff at Oceanbridge shipping - who look after all your freight needs. Other local support comes from the Less Mills team who will trade treadmills at the gym for clearing empty bottles from the beach, along with those good people at Computaleta, Massey University, Unique Displays, Jerry Clayton BMW and Bradley Smokers, so come down and join us!

Easterly winds - which are quite common in this part of the country during these hot summer months – tend to blow rubbish onto North Shore beaches, so the timing is perfect for a big clean-up.

Several North Shore businesses have already made generous contributions and the charity is aiming to raise the funds and prizes, and motivate as much of the North Shore community as possible to come along for a day that - judging by experiences at their previous events - will be an awesome day out for everyone involved.

At the end of the Saturday clean-up, the crew will be putting on a picnic barbecue, so everyone who participates over the two days can get together and celebrate what they have achieved on a beautiful clean beach.

There will be a photo comp for everyone and a creative writing competition for school students. Not only will winners get epic prizes, they’ll also gain the honour and recognition of being published right here in Channel Mag.

In the ‘Channel-Zone’ we have some of the most beautiful beaches in the World. We love these beaches and this is a great opportunity to roll-up your sleeves and get involved in loving them as well. So come on North Shore beach lovers, put it in your diaries today!

If your business wants to be a part of this unique community opportunity or you simply want to bring the family along for a fun day at the beach, contact the crew on info@sustainablecoastlines.org

If your local school would like to come along for a brilliant day of hands-on learning with results you can be proud of, contact learn@sustainablecoastlines.org
