Love Your Coast

With Channel Magazine, Benefitz and Sustainable Coastlines

The team at Channel Magazine (and Benefitz) are teaming up with Sustainable Coastlines for a massive cleanup of our local beaches on April 15th and 16th.
In December last year Sustainable Coastlines, an Auckland based charity, launched an initiative called Love Your Coast with a series of massive beach clean-up events around New Zealand. Rather than being just another organisation, Love Your Coast is an ongoing project that helps people across the country look after the coastlines we all love. The simple activity at the core of this, picking up rubbish from the coast, combines hands-on practical learning with fun.
The project website (www.loveyourcoast.org) is a free tool for anyone planning and promoting their own coastal clean-up events.
In April, Benefitz (publishers of Channel Magazine) is helping Sustainable Coastlines to run a huge coastal clean-up along Auckland’s North Shore.  Benefitz has been long-term supporters of Sustainable Coastlines. This will be held on Friday 15th and Saturday 16th of April and the crews from Sustainable Coastlines and Benefitz will be hitting the beaches from Browns Bay to Devonport. We are looking for the help of as many volunteers as possible to make the event a massive success.
The key is that ‘Love Your Coast’ are enjoyable events and educational initiatives that have a positive impact on our coastlines. This means that when young people are able to participate and enjoy making a tangible difference to the coastline, they continue that practice in the future, which ensures the simple concept of coastline protection through individual and community action remains sustainable.
In the ‘Channel-Zone’ we have some of the most beautiful beaches in the World. We love these beaches and this is a great opportunity to roll-up your sleeves and get involved in loving them as well. So come on North Shore beach lovers, put it in your diaries today!
