In late August we welcomed an exciting new bar to the Takapuna Strip on Hurstmere Road. In just a few weeks the space that was previously occupied by the Copper Room and Goode Bros has been completely transformed to now be the home of The Elephant Wrestler.
The Elephant Wrestler is Takapuna’s only official Heineken bar as well as being a new and exciting Gastro bar concept offering a classic gastro pub menu with a bistro twist.
A feature of The Elephant Wrestler is a sensational garden bar – such an important part of an establishment of this type on the sunny North Shore. This outdoor area has been created in the area that was previously occupied by Goode Bros.
“We wanted to create a bar where locals will feel right at home,” explained manager Paul Lomax when he proudly opened the doors of the new establishment in late August. “This is not going to be a pretentious pub but just a great local. A place where people can relax and enjoy a great range of drinks and very good value-for-money food. A real meeting place for the community.”
“The outdoor area will be very popular,” adds Paul Lomax. “The locals will love it in the summer especially, but with the outdoor heaters we have it will also be very comfortable all year round.”
With no less than six large screens – and Heineken on tap – The Elephant Wrestler will be a very popular place to watch all the rugby action over the next two months.

These include:- 2 for 1 meals on Monday; Battle of the Brains Quiz every Tuesday; Pizza of the Day just $10 on Tuesday; Loyalty Club Night on Wednesday with special offers on wines and beers of the month; $80 Champagne Celebrations and $10 cocktails on Thursday; Steak night with Prime Angus Beef just $15.90 on Thursday; $12.50 Fish and Chips on Friday; $10 cocktails on Friday and Saturday; Live music on Friday from 9pm; Mums night off on Sunday with Roast of the Day just $15.50 and Roast of the Day and Dessert just $22; ‘Sunday Session’ Live Music on Sunday.
