MAIRANGI ARTS CENTRE: News
EXHIBITIONS & Art Classes
Passionate About Pastels
(Opens 5pm Wednesday November 9th through until November 23rd)
This annual competition exhibition is now very well-established and attracts a high standard of pastels artwork from throughout New Zealand. Skilled artists vie for prizes that this year are kindly sponsored by Art Spectrum, Gordon Harris and Factory Frames.
The competition will be judged by pastels artist Maxine Thompson and Mairangi Arts Centre pastels tutor Marie Sanders.
Pastels are a beautiful, versatile medium, well-worth taking time to come and view.
Mairangi Bay Christmas Extravaganza
Sponsored by Auckland Council & Barfoot & Thompson
(December 2nd through until December 20th)
Mairangi Arts Centre in conjunction with the Mairangi Bay Business Association is extremely pleased to be able to offer this exciting new event to families and friends across the region.
The main focus of the event will be a display of 28 beautifully decorated Christmas trees in the centre’s two galleries decorated by local businesses, schools and groups.
In addition to this there will be other excitement in the centre’s car park and main art studio.
On each Friday and Saturday evening there will be either an evening market (ideal for picking up a unique Christmas gift, or perhaps something nice for you!) or family activities such as face painters, jugglers, bouncy castle.
The outside of the centre will be decorated with lights and houses in the road leading to the centre have been invited to participate in a Christmas light competition.
Many local community/sport/interest groups will be at the event so it should be lots of fun. It’s going to be a great way to take some time out to enjoy some fun family time together in the busy rush to Christmas. The cost to view the Christmas tree display will be $5 for a family or $2/individual.
For further information, please contact the centre. Further details will appear in December Channel Magazine.
